I just love appetizers, may it be the ordinary Onion rings to the elaborate appetizers of hotel restaurants. Sometimes i like appetizers more than the main dish because a lot of restaurants do appetizers differently or their appetizers are more interesting than their main dishes.
PASTO
Chicken Pate Crostini P105-
They serve their crostini differently, In regular restaurnts, crostinis are sliced baguettes topped with either veggies or meat or cheeses. Here, It was presented as pizza slices without the toppings, then it comes with either one of their choice of condiment. I choose the Chicken Pate. THe bread was baked upon order, hot and crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. THe Chicken pate was very good. Buttery in texture. THe taste was perfect. Not too bitter. Just right. Am not really a chicken liver fan but this one i liked.
Texas Roadhouse Grill
Santa Fe Nachos P220-
from italian food lets go to tex mex cuisine. Now this loaded nachos is one of the better nachos i have tasted. Loaded with meat, bacon bits, cheese, sour cream, jalapeno slices(my fave!). Kulang Nalang Cold Beer. Hehe.
Both establishment can be found in El Pueblo REal in Ortigas. Enjoy:)
I am not saying these are my favorite appetizers, but this is a break from my usual chicken wings and gambas and i found the two both great and pleasing to the palate.
warm bread.. very good.
made in house, thsi serving was already half eaten as i arrived late for the dinner. Nicely spiced. Cooked perfectly. Served with bread toasted in the chorizo and olive oil
Shrimp Spring roll, using rice paper as the wrapper then fried. Not oily at all, the shrimp was cooked through. THe differetn vegetables used was very fresh
doused with home made wasabi dressing. THe crab meat was sweet and moist. THe green was fresh and picked without any bits of discoloration. THe dressing suited the dish nicely.
the difference compared to our local oysters is the size. Baked with a spinach cream sauce. this was good , good good.
one of the better pizzas in the Serendra Area. Thin CRust. THe difference of their margherita is that they added anchovies giving it a salty kick which was very good.
marinated in sake, mirin and light soy sauce, also cooked in the marinade which penetrated the whole breast. Made the duck taSte less gamey
a wonderful and beautiful dessert, layers of puff pastry and whipped cream plus the strawberries glazed with reduced balsamic syrup and mint. Lovely dessert.
Chicken wings coated with sour cream rub served with bleu cheese dressing. This was a surprise, i never thought that the sour cream tub would suit fried chicken wings. It was very tasty and good. A alternative to the usual buffalo wings we order in a restaurant
this was kind of a let down for 2 reasons. It was quite a small portion and it was a bit fatty. But i love lamb. and i just have to try this dish.
3 small crabs smotheres with creole spices and garlic. THe crab as ususal was cooked perfectly, the seaoning penetrating the crab meat( well it was cracked before cooking:)) Finger lickin good.
- there are 6 different condiuments that you have to mix and match then the 7th element is he sweet savory soy sauce mixture that you add to the condiments
to make your sauce.
you can order plain broth, Sate or split soup meaning half is plain half is sate
this comes with an wide array of ingredient, seafood, different balls, fish cakes, and another plate of veggies, tofu, noodles, etc..
love it!!
- nothing great
- one of my fave luk foo dishes
waiting to be cooked and devoured
, fresh minced prawns. very little extenders.
165- assorted ingredients wrapped in rice paper then deep fried. I like the crispiness of the wrapper, it has a different texture from the usual lumpia wrapper we are used to. THe filling was made from ground meat and veggies. THe vinegar dip suited the rolls beautifully
another great dish, the freshness of the lettuce still crispy and not soggy catching each and every morsels of meat. THe meat cooked with hoisin sauce was delicious
Tausa is like black bean but has a more grainy and less salty taste. The fish was cooked just right, still tender and flaky.
THis restaurant for me serves the best tasting fried rice. Rice palang ulam na. ITs so tasty that you can eat the rice alone. really really yummy
this was okay, nothing special here
great version, the beef was tender, the sauce was very very good,
i used to remember the beef they used was super soft, this time the beef was not as soft as i would like it to be.
silken tofu, and i mean silken, soft, melts in you mouth tofu, the sauce huggin each tofu, mixing spicy, a little sweet and salty tones, great with a cup of plain rice
- this was so-so, i just love the colors.. reminding me of Christmas
i first saw this dish on the website of Lori Baltazar, She described it so beautifully that i am ashamed to described it myself. I orderd this dish bec of Lori and i didnt regret it,. It was good, the Shrimp was cooked just right, the breading was puffy but still light and not oily.
16 pices of ground pork mixed with minced veggies, wrapped in a lumpia skin. I like the fact that the lumpia wrapper was thick, it was just right, the meat inside didnt have too much extenders.
Classic thick noodles, swimming in a dark brown sauce loaded with differetn ingredients topped with fried garlic and shallots. This is one of the Chinese comfort food, served piping hot, good to fight any disease. hehe, i have yet to try Lomi places in Batangas, they say its delicious and cheap
- this was ordinary, nothing great.
- braised Kangkong.. still green and fresh, cooked just right to maintain its colot and texture/ THe lechon kawali has just the right amount of fat intermingled with the meat. THe skin was crispy
nothing unsual here, fairly done
- the star of the show. Cooked perfectly, juicy and succulent. one of my favorite Chicken here in Manila, the other one being Country Chicken. Can be eaten alone or with its special brown sauce.

6 pieces of chicken wing.. wait make that 3 wings cut into two. Fried then tossed in a spicy wing sauce that coats every single wing deliciously, the sauce was buttery and spicy at the same time which made it more yummy. Served with blue cheese dip and veggie stick. One of the better Buffalo wings available here in the city.
One of the most talked about burger in the recent months. How did it fafe in my palate, well, it was cooked to my liking, not overly well done, but the meat was grounded too finely in my point of view, lakcs the bite i was looking for. Served with cheese and whole leaf lettuce. The fries were thick cut which i liked, but it was not as good as the thick cut friends of SANGO
i dont know why but the fries were not cooked evenly, there are pieces wherein the inside were cooked through and there are fries that were hard. THe Bacon topped Burger was great,
Good amount of bacon.. yummy
Dory fillet in beer batter, this was good, moist inside, crispy outside.. the tartar sauce was also nice and Malt vinegar was avaialble by request
.. thick, hot, full of ingredients, sour but not too much.
- this was just okay.. nothing great
another mediocre dish, poorly done
- this dish would have been wonderful if the shrimp wasnt so mashed up.the size was great, fried to golden perfection. but it was too minced, mashed that the texture wasnt nice
squid was cooked correctly,, just had the right bite, nothing chewy. THe coating was good absorbing the salty and peppery tomes
- more like an stirred omellete than a foo yung, however i like it too
underneath all the veggies is a soft pork knuckle… one of the restaurants specialty and now i know why, the meat was soft falling off the bone. THe skin was so soft than u can smear it on the rice without any effort
- a little too salty…sayang
cooked savory style, was ordering for the famous butter chicken however we got this. i would prefer the buttered chicken instead
nothing great
not much seafood, more of the tofu here
this is my favorite dish aside form the soup, inside the rolled are whole shrimp. accompanied by a sweet and sour sauce.. delish…
