Let me just announce to everyone,…. THE PRESIDENT IS BACK!! Its been more than a year since it closed and a lot of chinese here in manila has been missing one of the best Chinese restaurant in town. So i bet a lot of people are happy that they opened!!
And to be invited to a lunch party here, i didnt even think twice in going.
THe place had renovations, the giant chandelier is now looking more modern in style. The place is brighter and cleaner looking. But what is important here is …… Is the food still great? Let me try it out for you’
Mixed appetizers-
with roasted pork asado, century egg, soy chicken, Jelly fish, Roasted Goose- everything was good, the Pork asado was very tender and has the perfect meat and fat ratio. Very juicy. The Roasted Goose was also delicious.
Cha Misua- carbohydrate overload!!!
lots of noodles with bits and pieces of meat and seafood plus the famous orange quail egg. This dish was seasoned perfectly and cooked just right. The noodles are aldente and doestn break apart easily. It wasnt dry.
Breaded fisn with ham-
this was my least favorite dish of the day. The breading made the fish dry. It would be better if they used a batter kind of breading.. like the one they use in fish and chips. It could have maintain the moisture of the fish.
Scallops and Brocolli-
both items were cooked excellently. THe brocolli maintained its color and crispness even when cooked. The scallops were easy to eat. Dip it in chinese bagoomg to enhance the taste.
Shredded chicken soup-
this was just okay
Suahe- big size suahe, steamed to perfection. the suahe meat was sweet and plump. Peeling was nto a chore… evident that it was cooked just right.
Braised abalone with mushroom and cabbage-
abalone when not cooked properly tend to be tough. this was easy to eat and yummy.,
Steam Lapu-lapu-
the soy ginger oil douse on the fish was just perfect for the fish THe flesh was soft and silky.
Fried Crab in ginger and garlic-
this was just lip smacking and finger licking good. grabe, i could eat this everyday.
Almong jelly-
i just topped it with the buchi:)
THe entire meal was just exquisite. could wait to try the other dishes that made me love this resto so much like their fried squid, king dao spareribs.. yummy yummy
The pork was siliced just right, not too thin and not too thick, floured then deep fried to produce a crispy product yet it was tender and moist inside. The sauce was just enough and it didn’t flood the plate. The sweet and sour balance was also just right.
The tofu were quickly fried and still silky inside. The seafood were cooked perfectly. The prawns were still springy and crunchy. The fish was flaky and soft, the squid was perfect and not a chore to eat.
noodles were cooked just right lots or meat and seafood,. Seasoned perfectly
anyone who can tell me how can a chinese restaurant produce beef this soft and tender?. This was super good…
using those thick Taiwanese noodles, that resembles Japanese Udon, the broth was excellent and soothing, the beef was tender and give you hints of its marinade which I presume to be soy sauce, star anise, 5 spice powder. It didn’t over power the noodles.
same as the ones used for the noodle toppings. Tender and cooked well
served with sweet and sour sauce, the fiiliing is primarily made from pork, the wrapper was beautifully crispy and was not oily at all. The filling tasted good.
big in size, but not big in taste
forgettable, tasted like orange concentrate on fried ribs
forgot the name, it was said to be one of their best sellers, don’t know why, didn’t taste too great
– not a good version, MAKI haus has a better version of this dish

this was good, but the serving size was quite small. AS you can see in the pic there sizzling plate was not full. But tastewise, it was delicious. It could do without the mayo though..
base on the pic.. you would think we got a good deal, but in fact…. there was more bones than meat… it was tender though and the sauce was good on top of rice/
Breast and wing part- It looks very ncie, but sad to say, it was dry. Not only dry, buy VERY dry.. Sayang, i hope it is not like this everyday, maybe a bad day for their grill chef? Will i give it another try?… Maybe.. but there are a lot of new place opening in Banawe…. Arrrgghhh

soft tufo cubes, breaded then fried to a wonderful golden brown crisp exterior but still moist and silky smooth inside. The sauce is a sweet soy glaze with a hint of tanginess that is just perfect. the way i eat this is i cut the cube in smaller squares before dousihing it with sauce so it penetrates the tofu.
served stil bubbling and sizzling. the pork spareribs were so tender that you can eat it with just a spoon and fork and it just fall off the bones. The sauce is sweet and spicy and delicious.
using small sea scallops, the asparagus and scallops were cooked perfectly, maintaining a slight crunch in the asparagus and the scallops were not chewy. cooked in a garlic based sauce. it didnt over power the veggie and seafood.
- almond gulaman together with grass jelly. Yummy
…. the hot chili garlic sauce was awesome
tender, meaty pork pieces fried then doused with a sweet red sauce. One of my favorite Chinese dishes and they do it very well.
they also make great fried rice, lots of “sahog” the rice was stir fried beautifully resulting in a fluffy texture. Yum yum
– who wouldn’t want bacon and prawn together in a dish, this was excellent, the saltiness and crispyness of the bacon complimanted the mild taste of the prawn. The inside was hot and moist and yummy blend of mince prawns.

no extenders here, its pure chopped prawns. Dunk it in the soup and it will result in a wonderful ball that will soak up any sauce you prepare, did I mentioned it is made fresh everyday. Boil everything in the soup, dont forget to drink the soup after cooking everything, it will be the best broth you ever tasted. And dont forget to mix the sauces to your liking:)

this was just ordinary, nothing really great. Serving size was quite smalli
better than the lumpiang shanghai, filed with vermicelli noodles, mushrooms, ground meat etc. It uses rice paper so if not fried properly, tends to get a little oily, however they did it well as it wasn’t oily
good version of the dish, the dressing was excellent blend of sour, salty and sweet tones.
another ordinary filipino dish.
this was good, not as oily as those serve in thai restaurants here
it came out like the plate was on fire, am not really a sweet potato fan. The prawn was big and plump.
this was very very good, pork was cooked till it was very tender, sliced so as it was not difficult to eat. The sauce was just sweet without going overboard.
shrimps were perfectly cooked. Veering way from the traditional gambas, they used diced tomatoes to this dish making it more taste like an italian dish than a spanish dish.
copying the dish from Recipes, they use a larger tilapia though and they friend it beautifully, keeping it moist inside
assorted seafood cooked in a thick coconut cream sauce. Then served on top of a fried potato basket. The sauce was a winner in taste.
instead of using short ribs, they used brisket. At first I thought it was going to be a tough. But I was mistaken as it was very soft and tender. The sauce was also reduced and thicken which gave the dish more UMPH and flavor
this one was good but fails in comparison with the best hot and sour soup in manila at
i always think there is something missing with this dish. It is sweet and spic but not overly spicy. The fish is dory fillet that is lightly floured and fried. Would like it if it was crispier.
- now this is one dish that i always order here. It can be a little oily sometimes but i love how the beans are cooked yet still firm and crispy. It has a little kick to it and has just enough meat to flavour the beans
this was good, but not as good as the ones in Little asia.
veering away from the usual chicken, we tried this dish and was not really that happy. it was a bit dry
lots of seafood and nicely fried noodles that become aldente after soaking up the sauce of the seafood. Yummy!!!
their version is among the top three lumpiang shanghai in the metro. It is fried to a beautiful crisp, The filling was meaty and tasty and cooked through. comes with a sweet and sour .
now instead of the usual chicken bbq, you can order this chicken, which is marinade in honey. The skin was thin and crispy, the meat was still juicy and soft. They usually serve it with ketchup, but i still prefer the Java sauce with it.
this was just okay, nothing extraordinary.
now this is my favorite aristocrat sandwich. Whats not too like about a FRIED sandiwch right, they have a large version of this, and recently came out with this cute small version, doused with cheese sauce, the filling are layers of chicken ala king, bacon/ham layer and egg layer. Absolutely love it and i bet it is also exploding in calories!!!!
a tall glass of shaved ice with arnibal syrup and tapioca pearls and gelatin cubes. REFRESHING
this looks more like a chinese dish than a filipino dish. Ground pork wrapped in cabbage leaves and nori then braised till cooked. It was a average appetizer, not something i would order again though. The meat inside was substantial and seasoned just right.
served with two eggs cooked the way you like it. I asked it to be cooked sunny side up and it was done perfectly. Dont expect any Angus or Wagyu beef here. you will get local beef and if you are lucky it will be tender. Good thing i was lucky anf i got a tender piece. Cooked medium well to well. I cant blamed them coz it hard to cooked a steak this thin. But i least i got my meat craving with this dish. It would have been a perfect breakfast to have this every morning:) right carnivores???
this is pert of the “americanized” dishes, they have another one called Popeye’s, which is just spinach and eggs, i got this dish because it got bacon and ham. The sour cream drizzled on top gave it a tart taste, i know some of you wll either love it or hate it. I like sour cream so i love this dish.
served crispy on a bed of sliced eggplants, the bagoong penetrating the pork pieces very well, imparting a salty taste but not getting overboard with the saltiness. Nice to eat it with rice:).
